All the railroads built in the Lackawanna and Wyoming Valleys were specifically built to haul anthracite coal to market. By the 1950s, when the majority of these photographs were taken, the half dozen railroad companies in the Scranton / Wilkes-Barre area where struggling to survive along with the waning coal business. Local photographer Ed Miller recorded the last vestiges of the original railroads in that area as they went about their day to day business in this 128 page all-color book.
