New Store Shipping and Return Policies

New United States Postal Service Rates
While the changes in USPS Domestic Rates will involve varying price increases, International Rates and Service have changed greatly. The low -cost Economy Letter (Surface) and Economy Parcel (Surface) services have been discontinued. This only leaves First Class International for packages weighing less than 4 pounds and Priority International for packages weighing more than 4 pounds as the lowest cost services.
The new rates are significantly higher than the former Airmail Letter Post and Airmail Parcel Post. Golden Spike will not offer the far more expensive International Express mail as the rates will exceed the cost of the items offered for sale.
The only 'savior' in this rate increase is the PRIORITY MAIL FLAT RATE BOX. Golden Spike will refund overcharges in shipping costs when items will fit in this box. A $3.00 Handling Fee is factored in the amounts refunded (for filling out Customs forms, boxes (over-sized) and packing materials.
Maybe a new market for freight-forwarders will emerge to fill the void of economical surface package transportation but for now there is no alternative.

Golden Spike Price Increase
UPS has applied a 4.9% price increase effective 1/2/07. FedEx Ground also has applied a rate increase. Many of Golden Spike's vendors use UPS/FedEx and pass on the shipping costs to Golden Spike in their invoices.
Our largest vendor has discontinued paying for shipping on prepaid orders because of these rate increases. Other vendors with heavy hard cover books are now charging up to $3.00-$4.00 per book inbound shipping to Golden Spike.
Therefore to help absorb these charges there will be price increases on the titles of the vendors who have increased their inbound shipping costs to Golden Spike. (1/1/08)

Pacific Electric Vols. 1 and 3 are out-of-print. They will be re-printed around June 2007. The publisher still does not know when these titles will be re-printed (7/08). For now Golden Spike is sold out of both titles. (12/26)
