Eighteen different railroads could be seen in and around St. Louis in the mid-1960s and early 1970s, and railroad photographer Dick Wallin was kept busy recording those classic operations! Volume 4 of Pentrex's Fallen Flags Series takes you back in time to experience: Alton & Southern; Chicago & Eastern Illinois; Chicago & North Western; Chicago, Burlington & Quincy; Cotton Belt; Frisco; Gulf, Mobile & Ohio; Illinois Central; Louisville & Nashville; Manufacturer's Railway; Missouri-Kansas-Texas; Missouri Pacific; New York Central; Norfolk & Western (including locomotives still painted in Wabash and in Nickel Plate colors); Penn Central; Pennsylvania; Terminal Railroad Association; and early Amtrak. A huge variety of motive power and paint schemes can be seen. EMD locomotives include E-and F-units, Geeps (including GP7s through GP40s), SW1200s and SW1500s, SD40s and SD45s, and a very rare TR1 cow/calf set. Alco RS2, RS3, RSD5, RS36, S2, FA, and a C424; as well as GE U25B, U30B, and U30C; and Fairbanks-Morse H10-44 are all on the scene and looking great! The camera takes you to Union Station, Kirkwood, Glendale, and West Alton in Missouri; and East St. Louis, Madison, Mitchell, Bixby, Granite City, and Venice in Illinois. It's a fantastic journey back to the heart of American railroading! 48 Minutes In Color with Appropriate Stereo Sound and Narration. Packaged in a sturdy clamshell case. Santa Fe Vintage Diesels Fallen Flags Series Volume I. Pentrex pays tribute to the fallen flags of American railroading with an exciting retrospective of Santa Fe motive power in New Mexico, Kansas, and Illinois during the 1960s and 1970s. The 8mm films of noted railroad photographer Dick Wallin provide remarkable footage of rarely seen and uncommon locomotives. Thrill to the sights of Alco U30CGs and U28CGs, built exclusively for the Santa Fe, and the Fairbanks-Morse H12-44Ts at Dearborn Station in Chicago. All three had steam generators to heat passenger cars during switching operations. The highlights of the show are the EMD GP7M prototype used on the Santa Fe as #99, and the popular CF7s that were rebuilt from F3s and F7s by the Santa Fe in their own shops. A wide variety of Fairbanks Morse, Baldwin, Alco, and EMD locomotives are seen in passenger and freight service, as well as a rare shot of an early articulated railcar. Added line drawings and specifications of each featured locomotive make this an important visual reference and resource for modelers, hobbyists, historians, and enthusiasts alike. 50 Minutes In Color with Appropriate Stereo Sound and Narration. Packaged in a sturdy clamshell case. Produced by Pentrex 1997. Retail $ 29.95.
