Author Name: Jerry Doyle
Title: Chesapeake and Ohio Diesel Locomotives in Color - 1949-1972
Seller ID: TL204
Author Jerry Doyle takes a new look at C&O diesels, with new insights on the actual dieselization process over the roughly six years that C&O converted from all-steam to all-diesel operation. Included also is not-before published data on the new diesel shops that were erected in such places as Huntington, Peru, and Clifton Forge, as well as the steam facilities converted, and of course information about the major heavy repair facility at Huntington, WV. Included will be a detailed roster, and the usual builder, construction and road numbers and dates, as well as dispositions. The illustrations are drawn from numerous high-quality sources and are intended to show the major classes and paint schemes of the various models in the C&O's fleet. Reproductions of official painting and lettering diagrams will be a welcome feature for modelers as that they may compare models schemes with the actual in photos and in the official diagrams. In all, this should be a fresh look at a subject that has been covered previously in books that are now out of print, with more and different materials of use for the locomotive fan, the C&O enthusiast and the modeler. This volume with mostly color photos covers the period of C&O dieselization up to the advent of Chessie System. Locomotives of Chessie System have been covered in another book available from the C&OHS: Chessie System Diesel Locomotives, by Jerry Doyle (a full color hardbound book that is still available.)
