This book is an in-depth look at the Lackawanna. We begin the series with coverage of Lackawanna operations in the state of New Jersey, starting at the Hudson River and ending at the Delaware River. In terms of distance, it's only about 100 miles as the crow flies, but within that space the DL&W managed to pack a great amount of railroad activity on a variety of lines. The second half of the book examines the Lackawanna in Pennsylvania and New York. Starting at the Delaware Water Gap, we have a tour of the cement district, climb the Pocono's, look at the heart of Lackawanna operations in the city of Scranton, and head west to Buffalo, with a few side trips on the branches feeding into the main line. This book has many steam in addition to first generation diesel power with some panoramic views of passenger trains and the great concrete viaducts. Retail $ 59.95.
