Title: Trackside around Allentown 1947-1968 with Arthur Angstadt
Seller ID: MS267
Few places in America offered as much railroad action and variety as Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley in the 1940's. The rail scene around Allentown was dominated by a trio of smaller eastern roads, the Reading, the Central Railroad of New Jersey, and the Lehigh Valley. Sharing the scene were the two 'Maybrook' roads, the Lehigh and Hudson River and the Lehigh and New England. Arthur Angstadt's photography was a byproduct of his passion for realistic model railroading. Not only the trains were photographed, but also the scenes and the structures, especially stations and roundhouses. What Arthur left behind is the subject of this book: a priceless collection of images of railroading in the Lehigh Valley, when new was replacing old, but when the railroads of the region were still independent and prospering.
