Title: Railroad Photography - Western States - Robert O. Hale
Seller ID: GW133
This book written by Donald Duke at the request of Malcolm McCarter presents some of the photographs of Robert O. Hale. Hale was a young navy photographer stationed at San Diego, California with an interest in railroading acquired through his step-father's employment at a roundhouse in Louisville, Kentucky. Hale's specialties were night photography, panned shots (following trains with the camera at a slow shutter speed leaving the background blurred), and time exposures. Since Bob Hale lived in California his photograph collection emphasizes the railroading in this state and the era was the steam to diesel locomotive transition. The photos in this book are black and white and the captions by Duke explain the photographs. Contents: Robert O.
