Since the first edition was published in 1995 much has changed. This all new edition not only incorporates all those changes, mergers, ownership changes and abandonment's but also includes for the first time the interurban electric railroads and logging railroads. The Atlas shows all currently operated common carrier, tourist and major industrial railroads along with abandoned routes.

This second edition covers Arizona and New Mexico after the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe and Union Pacific-Southern Pacific mergers.

Arizona: Bisbee-Naco, Courtland-Gleeson, Miami-Globe, Morenci-Clifton (circa 1916 and present day), New Cornelia Mine, Tucson and Yuma
Colorado: Trinidad
New Mexico: Cumbres and Magdalena
Texas: El Paso

This atlas is designed to provide a single source of reference to the North American rail network, past and present in greater detail than has readily available until now. Each sheet is drawn to a constant scale of 8 miles to 1 inch for easy distance comparisons with 2 miles to 1 inch enlargements of complex areas.

All extant rail lines are shown together with stations, junctions, yards, principal bridges and tunnels. Former lines, now abandoned, are also shown. Ownership, current and past, and trackage rights are shown. An index of stations is included.
