This book provides a view of the Northern Pacific Railways freight, passenger and non-revenue rolling stock during the era of color photography. The objective is less to be encyclopedic than to show the paint and lettering schemes used on NP equipment from the 1940s through 1970. In looking at the various schemes, we will also explore the Northern Pacifics fleet of equipment, when and why it was acquired, and where and how it was used.
